How we help empower youth

All of our programs focus on Biblical and Spiritual enhancement of the family structure. Our aim is to nurture the families that come through our doors and provide an atmosphere of love and acceptance for you and your children. Our goal is to share the love of God through Jesus Christ in all that we do. We invite you and your children to join us for any and all of the programs offered here at The Salvation Army of Monroe.

After School Drop In Program

The Salvation Army now offers a safe and friendly environment for your children to enjoy after school games of pool, foosball, ping pong, air hockey, and board games. Children ages 7 - 13 are welcome to attend and relax with a puzzle or play one of the many games we have on hand. This new program allows your children to unwind in a friendly and safe environment. Children must register with their parents. Registration forms are available in our lobby office during regular hours.

Due to school, summer camps, and more, our Drop In Program times are always changing. To hear our current times, contact our office at 734-241-0440.

Character Building Program

We also offer a weekly Character Building class on Wednesday's from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Children ages 5 - 18 are welcome to attend. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Registration forms are available in our lobby office during regular hours.

Our Character Building Program offers different opportunities based on age group:

Adventure Corps Rangers (6th - 12th grade boys)

The Adventure Corps program is geared toward helping young boys become young men. Boys will learn hands-on skills in archery, rocketry, fishing, electrical, and more with a focus on building strong Christian character.

Girl Guards (6th - 12th grade girls)

         Girl Guards focuses on helping girls learn about themselves and their expanding world with an emphasis on spiritual, mental, physical, and social well-being. The program helps girls reach their Godly potential in a loving Christian environment. Girls earn emblems in music, games, crafts, camping, and other great activities.

Explorers (1st - 5th grade boys)

Explorers are Rangers in training. We focus on helping young boys grow into young men.

Sunbeams (1st - 5th grade girls)

Sunbeams is a fun-filled program that helps girls develop their Christian life. It also focuses on helping girls learn about themselves and the world around them. Girls earn emblems in music, games, crafts, camping, and more.

Moonbeams (Ages 4 to 5 boys and girls)

        Boys and girls are invited to join this group as an introduction to the Sunbeam and Ranger programs. The kids will work on emblems geared specifically for their age group. To love God and one another is the foundation of this program.

Echo Grove Camp

Echo Grove is a great place to meet God in His great outdoors.  Through relaxation, adventure and rich fellowship, we endeavor to bring all campers closer to Him. 

For nearly 100 years, thousands of children from low-income families have enjoyed fresh air, exercise and the chance to make new friendships during the annual summer camp program at Echo Grove. The camping experience is more than just a pleasant vacation. Children learn new skills and self-reliance; trained counselors who understand their emotional needs and problems help them to mature. A few weeks at Echo Grove can mean a lifetime of impact for a kid who needs to be lifted up and encouraged.

While at Echo Grove, campers participate in a wide range of activities, including swimming instruction, Adventure Corps and Scouting, arts and crafts, music instruction, Christian education and much more.
